Ok, first things first. Full disclosure. We actually own Quirkel – so you can bet that the review is biased and will be a good one.
But don’t let that deter you.
Let’s face it. Services like a website and database backup service is FAR from sexy. It’s not a shiny object or a nifty toy. But it IS something you MUST HAVE if you are serious about protecting your on line business.
Don’t be “that guy/gal” who waits until after your site has been hacked/destroyed, etc. before looking for a restore solution. Because then it’s too late for at least one of your sites.
So then, what is Quirkel exactly. Let’s start with this quick video:
Does it work? Indeed it does. It wasn’t long ago that my entire server was completely hacked and taken over. In fact, every time I tried to log in my IP was banned 🙁
My wonderful web host support staff was able to get in and lock out the offender, but they basically had to rebuild the entire server. I only run about 30 sites, so it wasn’t THAT bad, but when it was time to get my sites back on line you know what I did?
I used the Quirkel Restore feature.
Look – whether you use Quirkel or a service like it, you REALLY need to back up your sites and their databases. If you’re making money, collecting subscribers, adding articles to blogs, hve a paid membership site – that is you BUSINESS. Why wouldn’t you protect it??
